Special brew for the Metafest, our semi-annual party…
It consists of a lot of firsts for us

  • First double batch (10gal) on our full grain system
  • First American IPA (fruity) that we make, brewed with hops directly from the Yakima valley.
  • It’s our first kegged beer!

We fermented the wort in 2 part of 5 gals… so we took this opportunity to make them a little bit different…

“Samus” –  American IPA


This part contains the unmodified wort. This one is pale and fruity. The dry hopping is made with Citra hops.

 “Ridley” – Brown IPA



This part was combined with a decoction of roasted malt to darken it… The dry hopping is done with Simcoe.


The base recipe is based on the Yakima IPA by “Le Castor” brewery. The ingredient list is based on what the Brewer answered to some questions on faceook. I’ve got all of the stats technically, except some proportions. We’ll see for that!

Malt: 2-rangs, Munich, Vienna, Carapils
Hops: Magnum, Palisade, Cascade, Citra, Simcoe
Yeast: WLP060

Both beers go trough a first dry hopping during secondary… and then another one right in the keg a few days before service. It will stay in there while we drink it.
